Sobriety House is looking for a Marketing & Development Intern
Location: In-Person (Main Campus located in Denver)
Hours: 8–10 hours/week (minimum 135 hours for 3 credits)
Reports To: Development & Engagement Manager
Pay: $20-$22/hr
Start Date: January in alignment with Spring Semester
About Sobriety House
Sobriety House is Colorado’s oldest licensed residential treatment center, offering trauma-informed care to adults living with substance use disorders. Our mission is to provide high-quality, effective services through a continuum of care that supports clients in lifelong recovery—regardless of their ability to pay.
Located in the historic Baker neighborhood of Denver, our main campus consists of four Victorian homes. While our primary focus is residential treatment, we also offer outpatient programming and independent sober living options to support long-term recovery.
Position Overview
This internship offers a hands-on learning experience for a student interested in marketing, communications, nonprofit development, and community engagement. As the Marketing & Development Intern, you’ll play a key role in helping Sobriety House reach new audiences, share powerful stories of recovery, and deepen our community engagement.This position will work closely with the Development & Engagement Manager to develop skills in communications, marketing, and nonprofit development. This role offers opportunities for learning, feedback, and professional growth.
This is a mission-driven role for someone who wants to use their skills to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Social Media (40%)
Assist in maintaining and developing monthly content calendars
Draft and schedule social media posts using authentic, stigma-reducing language.
Help create visual content (photos, graphics, short videos) that supports campaign goals.
Track and analyze engagement metrics to inform future strategy.
Research trending content, holidays, and awareness days to enhance relevance and reach.
Support Sobriety House's blog through content ideation, writing, and editing posts.
Community Outreach (30%)
Support Sobriety House’s presence at community events
Help coordinate guest speakers or alumni storytellers for outreach opportunities.
Support the development of Sobriety House’s alumni program, including outreach, engagement storytelling, and event planning.
Donor Communications (30%)
Support the creation of donor thank-you letters, communications, and fundraising campaign content.
Support communication needs for fundraising campaigns and donor programs
Assist with maintaining donor engagement materials and storytelling assets.
Ideal Candidate
Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
Graphic design or Canva experience preferred.
Comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and maintaining confidentiality.
